Annotated Bibliography
The Annotated Bibliography assignment should include 10 text-based sources. At least 5 of the sources should be academic (per requirements defined in class). The 10 sources should cover a topic of interest to you and related to either an aspect of digital engagement, specific design elements, or a topic within the discipline of critical internet studies. You are free to use sources that have been collected for other projects this semester, but you must contextualize them differently in your annotations toward their arrangement in this project.
The Annotated Bibliography should begin with 200 words (+/- 50 words) of introduction summarizing your topic and articulating your position on that idea that has developed during your research. Feel free to mention sources in this introduction. The introduction should be followed by 10 sources and their annotations, organized in MLA format; annotations should be around 100 words each.
Sources: We considered a variety of different artifacts a “source” this semester, however, on this bibliography, only include text-based sources written by journalists, policy makers, scholars, researchers, or other experts in the field.
Submit the Annotated Bibliography as an MS Word file or PDF to the appropriate thread in the #activities channel on Discord.
Per the generative AI policy in the syllabus, do not use generative AI materials for research or writing your annotations.
This portion of the assignment is due at the end of Week Eleven.
Presentation
During Week Twelve, deliver a 5-min presentation in class or via a cloud-hosted link to a screenshot video that you’ve recorded. The presentation should cover the research of your Annotated Bibliography. It should consist of no more than 5 slides, and the majority of the information in the presentation should be delivered orally by you rather than read from the slide (use slides for thematic images or diagrams). Submit your slides or your video in the appropriate thread in the #activities channel on Discord.
