Collaborative Assignment #1 (CA1): First Analysis Post

For Weeks Seven and Eight
First draft due by March 6.
Final draft and reflections due March 18.

Assignment: On a team of 3-5 peers, compose an analysis post that follows the Analysis Post Template first discussed in Week Four (300 word intro, 10 artifacts, 200 word annotation following each artifact).

Resources: Check the Google Drive resource folder for role descriptions, organizing doc template, style guide, and roster.

First steps: Place yourself on a team by 8am tomorrow (Tuesday, 2/24) using the identified CA1 channels on Discord. By the end of the day on Thursday (2/26), the group should have assigned the following roles: Project Manager (PM), Researcher, Designer, and Editor. Remember: everyone on the team is a writer, so the drafting of the text for your post should be equally distributed; your role should only account for half of your work on the team.

Format: Use the Analysis Post Template as a model for your final product. I have added language to it related to the conclusion. Remember that, while the analysis post gives 3 artifacts as examples, full analysis posts for class should include 10 artifacts (7 stakeholders, and 3 politicians/journalists).

Reflection: Keep a document for yourself for reflective notes during this assignment. Takes notes on 1: your work on the story (your tasks, the balance of your time between writing and your role, how the story develops) and 2) the collaboration of the group (group members’ contributions, meetings, deadlines, tone of communications). I will ask you evaluate your work, the work of the group, and offer 100 words of reflection on each (along with anything else that you want to share) on the final due date (3/18). Only I will see these scores and reflections.

Submission:

  1. The PM will submit a link to the first draft of the post in the #assignments channel by Friday, March 6.
  2. The PM will submit a link to the final draft of the post in the #assignments channel by Wednesday, March 18.
  3. All team members will complete the reflective survey shared on Discord between Monday, March 16, and Wednesday, March 18.
