Our first reading will be:
“Chapter 15: Critical Internet Studies” by Jeremy Hunsinger, a chapter in Second International Handbook of Internet Research edited by Hunsinger, Allen, and Klastrup, 2020.
In class we will complete several quick activities. I will explain how I want students to be ready for our reading discussion in Wednesday’s class.

Group two: Public good | Digital community | Activism | Benefit corporation
Group three: Network analysis | Engagement | Ethos | Accountability
Group four: Authenticity | Transparency | Non-Profit organization

Read “Chapter 1: What is Rhetorical Theory” in Atilla Hallsby’s The Rhetoric UnTextbook
Listen to “The Inside Story of How Silicon Valley Rewired Our Brains” on the Offline podcast (also, here’s a video version of the the conversation).
Engage with your definition group on Discord. Find one source that helps you define each of your group’s terms (one source per term).
- By Friday (8/28), share and describe your sources and your own 1-2 sentence definition of each term (each definition should cite your source. Complete this step by Friday (8/28)
- By Sunday (8/30), provide feedback on the definitions of your group members’ definitions.
