On Monday and Tuesday I held virtual meetings with students who needed help refining their Technoliteracy narrative.
On Wednesday students should be bringing either a Phase Two draft (for narratives that were approved) or a new Phase One draft (for narratives that needed more direction or did not apply for approval).
If you need a review of the phased writing method, see my blog posts here.
Technoliteracy Narrative, Assignment Guidelines
The essay should be
- Formatted according to MLA standards (see Purdue OWL resource for help)
- 600-700 words
- Include sufficient introductory and concluding paragraphs
- Telling a personal, true story related to technology usage (platform, event, or problem)
- Reflecting on the importance of that story
- Citing and directly quoting from two academic or journalistic sources
- Including those sources in a Works Cited section that follows the essay
- Phase Three Due Date: Wednesday, 9/30
We will spend time in class discussing the details of Phase One and Phase Two components of the writing process and experimenting with peer review.
Each student should connect with two other students whose essays they will agree to review for Phase Two by class time on Monday, 9/28
Hybrid activity
- Post completed Phase Two to your own thread in the #technoliteracy-phase-two channel by Friday, 9/25.
- Read chs 13-16 in Vara/Searches by Sunday, 9/27.
- Review two students’ Phase Two drafts (5 observations) by class time on Monday, 9/28.
